Experience Summary
I have had two years experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Alabama - Huntsville (U.A.H.), where I worked as both an instructor and a tutor. My tutoring experience ranged from assisting in computer-aided mathematics courses (Remedial and Pre-Calculus Algebras) to working in the tutoring lab (Business Maths, Pre-Calculus Trigonometry, Calculus sequence). As an instructor, I taught the Pre-Calculus Trigonometry recitation courses, which helped students in the lecture sessions with the reinforcement of problem-solving skills and conceptual knowledge. I have both a M.S. and a B.S. in Mathematics from U.A.H., graduating with honors with my undergraduate degree.
Teaching Style
Patient, understanding, and thorough would be the three words I would use to describe my teaching style. I am patient, because I understand that with a subject like Math, one has to know that it may take a great amount of time for the student to fully grasp the subject matter. I am understanding, for I know that each and every student is unique in how they can most effectively learn the subject of Math and how their instructor can teach them the subject most clearly. And, finally, I am thorough because I believe in working with the student until he or she fully understands the subject and is able to demonstrate to me that they have a full grasp on the concepts being presented to them.
