Experience Summary
As a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and English Literature has kept the world of education fresh in my mind. With three editorial/media internships, including TIME Inc. and the Milwaukee Art Museum, I am fully qualified to tutor students needing assistance in any communications field, specifically English composition, grammar, language arts, and/or reading. Through extensive practice in all forms of writing, working as a multi-subject/multi-level substitute teacher, and having been blessed with an excellent educational background, I have garnered an unconditional love for the world of education and teaching.
Teaching Style
Individual student needs become very apparent very quickly, especially in the subjects of language arts and reading. The first important step is to assess a specific goal then to lay out a plan to reach that goal in order to make steady progress. Motivation is key, and that key is different for every learner. Energy and enthusiasm rank at the top of my list as important teaching attributes. If an instructor is not excited about the area of learning, how can the student be? An outstanding teacher is one who can make a difference in each and every of his/her students' lives, therefore their education. It is my personal goal to make a difference.
