Experience Summary
I taught for 11 years at the University of Florida as a visiting lecturer. During that time I developed and implemented a three level course to teach Haitian language to graduate and undergraduate students for Center for Latin American Studies, African and Asian Languages, and Romance Languages & Literature department. Jointly, I held adjunct professorship positions at University of Tampa and University of South Florida teaching French and Global Issues. I have also taught adults in community learning centers, helping students from various countries improve English proficiency and develop work readiness skills.
Teaching Style
My style of teaching is akin to coaching: I seek to pull out the best in each student while focusing on their ultimate goal. I feel the most success when I can see my students get better at what they try to accomplish. To get there, I maintain a very friendly approach and create a non threatening, positive attitude. I emphasize a students centered environment from which either an individual student or a group of students can feel they constructively participate in each effort. I love teaching for what I am able to impart, but also for what I learn each time students help me discover new techniques, new ways to improve knowledge.
