Experience Summary
I have experience teaching natural science, mathematics, reading, and SAT prep. As an Environmental Educator at the NC Museum of Natural Science and the NC Maritime Museum I developed hands-on teaching strategies that utilize children's inherent scientific curiosity to introduce principals of ecology and natural history. As a math teacher, I worked with struggling high school students to improve their classroom grades and establish good study habits. As a Master’s in Marine Science candidate at North Carolina State University, I worked as the head teaching assistant, preparing and executing laboratory exercises in Principles of Oceanography and Earth Systems Science.
Teaching Style
Educators play a vital role in exciting students' curiosity and motivating students' successes. A good teacher can impact a student's education throughout his life, and I strive to instill in my students strong work habits and educational values that will prepare them for future challenges. I am passionate about broadening students’ understanding of course content by developing experience-based learning programs that emphasize creativity, discovery, and problem solving. I believe that each student can be motivated to learn and succeed if content is presented in a way that inspires learning, promotes self-discovery, and improves self-esteem. I will bring energy, enthusiasm and experience to each tutoring session.
