Experience Summary
My experience, knowledge and skills are multifaceted and reach far beyond the classroom experience. I have utilized my skills since before I graduated college in 1992, while working with 'at risk' youth in a group home placement. I am proficient in teaching various life skills; ie., communication skills, problem solving skills, decision making skills, drug and alcohol abuse programs, and, anger management, are among the many I have taught.
Teaching Style
As a social worker, it is my nature to observe 'the prospective student' on a psychosocial level which enables me to prepare and teach in an affective manner, tailored to meet individual needs. I prefer to 'coach' rather than 'teach'. It is customary for me to utilize emotional and mental support, which, I believe is the catalyst for a student to become successful. As a former GED participant, I furthered my educational experience to include a bachelors level in college. I 'know' from personal experience that an education is obtainable, at any level one desires and is willing to work for.
