Experience Summary
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati majoring in Civil Engineering. While in school, I had two different tutoring jobs. The first job I had was with Mathnasium now known as Lumen Learning Center in West Chester, Ohio. At this job, I taught first grade through Trigonometry. This gave me the experience of working with groups of students in different grade levels and different learning styles. After this, I worked for the University of Cincinnati’s Center of Access and Transition teaching up to Calculus. I taught freshmen who had not been accepted into a program and back to school adults. This gave me the experience of teaching larger groups the same subject, such as a teacher in a class.
Teaching Style
I love to teach. There is nothing more fulfilling than to see a student succeed who was previously having difficulties in a subject. I believe that patience is the key. I believe that you need to also listen to what the student has to say if they have anything to say at all, then observe while they work to see what works and doesn’t. Each student is different and should be taught as such, which is how I tutor. I also like to get to know the student so that they feel comfortable enough to speak freely especially if they do not understand something.
