Experience Summary
I tutored for 8 years before getting involved with the AVID program at the Middle and High School level. Concurrently, I worked with University Instructors teaching SAT Prep, Math and Reading Buddies Programs, and a summer school enrichment program. After obtaining my Provisional license with three endorsements (English, Journalism, and Speech Communications), I began my career as a full-time teacher. As a first-year teacher and yearbook adviser, I won trophy class with the VHSL. I enjoy being creative in the classroom, integrating technology, and engaging students in regular and advanced English classes. I've taught 9-11, revised a pacing guide, and collaborated with other teachers on a regular basis.
Teaching Style
I strive to make a difference in my students' lives by teaching them accountability. I use my sense of humor, but try to maintain a routine and strong communication. I believe in thinking outside the box. All children are capable of success if there are people in their lives who believe in them and support them. Education is so important. It is the only way to truly make the world a better place.
