Experience Summary
As a bilingual Spanish and English speaker since birth I have always had an interest and inclination to the learning and teaching of languages. As a student at Fordham University, I pursued the Italian language. Afterward I spent a year in Spain teaching English to Spanish students which I found very rewarding and interesting. This past year I substituted for the foreign language teachers at New Canaan High School in Connecticut. I have found that I am a very effective teacher who will do whatever it takes to make sure the student is able to understand the material and figure out how the language he or she is trying to master functions.
Teaching Style
I am a great teacher. I am extremely patient and understanding as well as excited about the material. I do my best to ensure that students are interested in what is being studied. The use of songs to highlight certain grammatical or thematic elements I have found to be very effective. Interactive media to keep the students engaged as well as aware that what they are learning is relevant is a must. I am a firm believer that anyone can learn a language as long as it is taught properly and effectively.
