Experience Summary
I am a licensed chemist in the Republic of the Philippines. I possess a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry, and a Masters Degree in Environmental Health. I have taught General Chemistry in a university setting. I was also a Teaching Assistant for Principles of Environmental Health at the Univ. of Minnesota and at the Univ. of Michigan, where I am currently pursuing my PhD. Professionally, I worked as an Industrial Hygienist at the Dept. of Labor, Philippines for 3 years, and as an Industrial Hygiene Intern at a secondary lead smelter at Eagan, MN. I also tutored a Grade 5 student in Mathematics. The parents liked me so much that I was able to tutor the student until he finished high school.
Teaching Style
I am a believer of the mastery of the basic concepts. I usually start explaining the fundamental principles, and apply these principles in our everyday life. I usually start with the easy problems, as I proceed with the harder and more challenging ones as soon as the student masters the "building blocks." I try to inject as much humor and practicality, and try to relate the course in a way the student can relate to make the subject a more rewarding, enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
