Experience Summary
I began taking drawing and painting classes in high school in 1983. I then went to the Art Academy of Cincinnati where I took extensive studio and art history classes. I learned drawing, painting and printmaking skills, which include: lithography, etching, mono printing, screen-printing, and relief printing. After receiving my BFA from the AAC in 1992, I continued to draw and paint. I currently create acrylic and oil paintings, mixed media collage and drawings. I have worked in various galleries and museums in Cincinnati, San Francisco and Louisville, where I gained valuable skills, knowledge and experience of the art world. I have taught and demonstrated printmaking, drawing, painting and mixed media for children, teens and adults.
Teaching Style
Art is a wonderful way for children to express themselves. I love working with children and want to help them gain confidence and learn skills to be expressive and creative through art. I believe in encouraging children to be creative in their own way. I can help your child with technical issues in drawing, painting, printmaking, composition, color, design, etc. To make an art lesson whole, I believe it is important to include a little bit of art history and art vocabulary. I have the knowledge and resources to share the works and techniques of the great artists of our past and information about the art world today with your child. There are different levels to my lessons depending on the age and level of each individual.
