Experience Summary
I am trained and experienced in individual, small-group, and classroom instruction and curriculum design in a variety of settings with youth in kindergarten through college.
I have a strong background in integrated curricula and project-based/experiential learning for all subjects at the K-6 level and Language Arts and Study Skills for grades 7 and above.
Additionally, I have extensive experience working with youth with a range of learning differences as well as acute behavioral and emotional needs and a comfort and familiarity with models of positive discipline and behavior modification.
Teaching Style
Throughout my recent graduate courses in social work, I've remained active in my teaching and feel the better able I am to listen and understand, the more prepared I am to teach. I believe learning to be a joyful experience and am not only patient in the moments where a concept is yet to be grasped, but happy to meet the challenge and find a new way to express an idea or create a new opportunity for a child to have that "aha!" moment. Above all else, I am flexible and understand that there is no single way to learn. I will adapt as necessary, but remain consistent in my expectations, always believing that with support, all children can succeed.
