Experience Summary
Interlochen Arts Academy unlocked the artist within me. Their educational styles and values continue to inspire me as an educator. Hope College and continuing education furthers me with a variety of tools to design curriculum. Versatility together with concentrations in both Painting and Clay, an appreciation for the liberal arts, diversified cultural environments, and vivid discourses have guided me to point out new directions for my students. I also have a wide background in tutoring Math, English, GED prep and Early Reading. I believe this experience, enthusiasm, brings me the ability to connect with students.
Teaching Style
My objective as an educator is to be a compass that enlightens young minds, guiding them to discover hidden talents and deepen existing gifts. Mastery is best achieved through active learning, giving students a variety of individualized tools to measure, evaluate, and contribute to their global world. Students grasp the big picture better when ideas are linked across disciplines and connected to personal experience. Awakening knowledge in this way is my vocation.
