Experience Summary
As an English major, I have graduated with exceptionally strong skills in written and verbal communications, as well as an analytical mindset. I was in the teaching program at the Feinstein School of Education at Rhode Island College for one year, and even got in-class experience with 4th grade students, and from this experience I realized that my natural passion for language and writing could be instilled in the eager personalities of developing young people. My mastery of language and grammar has been sharpened over the past four years, and therefore I am a viable candidate for tutoring in any area of writing, reading comprehension, and English language arts.
Teaching Style
I find that my interactions with children, or even young adults, always involve establishing a personal, familiar connection on which we then build a relationship of mutual growth and education. I possess a calm, patient manner in conjunction with an impassioned enthusiasm for reading and writing. I believe that reading comprehension and writing competency are two of the hardest, as well as most important, skills that kids of this impending generation need to become passionate about. My best language arts teachers always made sure that students were invested in the material, and therefore my strategy with children definitely involves engaging their interests as well so that they learn naturally.
