Experience Summary
I possess an M. A. degree in Spanish, as well as a B. A. in psychology, and have a wide array of teaching experience. I’ve taught Spanish at the high school for over 6 years, both in San Antonio, TX and in Oldham Co., KY. I also received a graduate teaching assistantship from the University of Louisville and later continued teaching college level Spanish as an adjunct professor at several local universities for approximately 2 years: University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, Indiana University Southeast, and Louisville Bible College. Currently, I teach/tutor Spanish at Los Monitos Language Center in Louisville, KY. I am also an independent contract interpreter for Catholic Charities in Louisville.
Teaching Style
I have always loved helping others, and it brings much joy to my life. I seem to have a natural knack for breaking down broad objectives into little parts and explaining them to others in a way they can understand. I am a patient and enthusiastic teacher and believe that everyone can learn...somehow. As a high school educator, I worked with many types of learners, from students with special needs to the most gifted, and was able to find a way to help each of them succeed. Whether it was pairing higher achievers with lower achievers for classroom activities, assigning them enrichment activities to be completed outside of the classroom environment, or through private instruction after school hours, I found a way.
