Experience Summary
I have dedicated the majority of my academic career to strengthening and deepening my understanding of the Spanish language. Throughout my time at VCU, I have tutored middle and high school students in Spanish, taught ESL classes on an Elementary level, and worked as a medical interpreter for Spanish speaking patients. I have also conducted group lessons for Hispanic individuals seeking to learn English.
Teaching Style
The wide range in which I have utilized my abilities as a Spanish speaker have offered me a flexible and dynamic approach to tutoring. As an interpreter, I am constantly being challenged, while learning and fortifying my linguistic proficiency. As a classroom instructor, assessing each student's level of understanding and learning style has enabled me to approach the language itself on a more cognitive and integral level. While I have developed defined methods of teaching, I mold my style of tutoring to the individual student, and use that as a building block to move forward.
