Experience Summary
As a former Principal, Teacher, and Social Worker, I bring 23 years of experience when working with students. My success includes working with children with multiple levels of abilities. Many students from my past come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Each student, was managed with a philosophy of me as the teacher or principal, serving as adviser to help students make educational gains both academically and individually. At this point of my career, I am most proud of students coming back to me saying, I was a turning point for them feeling good about their educational goals. Ultimately, my goal is to help students overcome barriers to success. I am proud to say that I have done this in the past.
Teaching Style
I am a big believer in stationed teaching concepts. A student must first, learn through audio and visual styles of learning through teacher-student interactions. I work on vocabulary strategies and skills next. The proper vocabulary background for any subject area should be clear and concise to the student. We next work on concept mapping, and linking common themes. There is a process to every step of learning. I will review often to look for missing concepts. Finally, independent learning is another station that is vital important. Assessing how a student can complete tasks on their own gives me an idea how well the instruction is going. I will learn and adapt from my own mistakes in instruction when needed.
