Experience Summary
I have taught a wide variety of subjects as a Special Education teacher. I have BS in natural science with a minor in Geology & geography and Secondary Education. I held certification to teach general science and currently certified to teach Biology in California. I have masters in Special Education and certified in Arizona as cross categorical in this area. I have taught and tutored Science (General, Physical and Biology), Ancient History, World history, Mathematics and GEDs. I have also done classes on a variety of job training and test taking skills. My 6 years in biotech field has allowed me a greater understanding of Biology and Chemistry. My time as the Education Department at the local detention center has allowed me to understand all the state and federal regulations to a much greater degree than when I was only teaching.
Teaching Style
I believe all children can learn, but each in their own ways. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. My goal is to provide the child a structured environment where they can find their greatest academic potential and work on what they want to do when they leave school. I am a firm believer in learning through self-discovery and to a lesser degree drills. I am also a firm believer in transition from school to school and from school to career. I believe all children can find their potential if they are given the chances, time and experience they need. A few good teachers can change a child’s life and educational potential. . I strive to make a difference in all of my students' lives. I enjoy teaching and working with all children (especially the E.D., at- risk and problem students) and available to help your children find academic success.
