Experience Summary
My formal teaching experience consists of weekly classes and workshops at Artful Journey, and over three years at ArtWorks Fine Art Studio. While there I taught traditional drawing and painting with a focus on teaching students to draw realistically. I guided all ages through color theory, design, drawing, painting, and printmaking. I also helped manage our studios, set up new curriculum for our summer workshops and developed and created working examples. I also held a teaching assistantship at Cranbrook, which consisted of mentoring my fellow graduate students, managing our facilities, and assisting our artists in residence.
Teaching Style
My overall aim in dealing with students at every level is to construct an atmosphere of mutual respect where I may equip each student with a strong foundation and provide them with the confidence and desire to acquire the skills, independence, and motivation to develop a love, talent and appreciation for art. I hope to model an enthusiasm for craft that is contagious and inspires hard work and a desire to learn. I am passionate about all kinds of art and love to share my enthusiasm with students and direct them in their journey of art discovery.
