Experience Summary
As a graduate of Oakland University with degrees in both art and teaching, I have gained vast experience with a variety of students. My career began at Paint a Miracle, a Rochester art studio geared towards adults and children with special needs. I was in charge of tracking supply use, planning and executing lessons with my students, and assisted in selecting works for exhibition.
At Schoolhouse Montessori Troy, I taught preschool and elementary art. My students studied a variety of artists and learned many of the techniques in which they worked. I was also fortunate enough to work with a variety of elementary and middle school students as part of my education training.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I expose students to a variety of artists and their techniques. My students are taught the fundamentals of art first, mastering one skill at a time. I am very interactive with my students. We discuss new skills, students have visual examples, and I also demonstrate every technique.
I feel that once students have knowledge of the fundamentals, they need to feel free to experiment and adapt different styles to suit their personal taste. Every child can reach their full potential, given the right environment and tools.
