Experience Summary
I have tutored several high school and a couple of college students in first year chemistry. These include the typical areas of chemistry such as: electronic structure of atoms, the periodic table and properties of the elements, chemical bonding, nature of liquids, solids, gases, phase changes, stoichiometry, acid/base reactions, kinetics, metals and non-metals, complex and coordination compounds, electrochemical cells, redox reactions, organic chemistry, nuclear reactions and polymers.
Teaching Style
I enjoy helping children, young adults, and older people too, understand chemistry and science. I like coming up with new approaches to assist in grasping complex concepts and breaking these concepts down to easier ways to look at them. My approach is to allow the student to explain area where they are having trouble or need help. This gives me an idea of their understanding of the specific area. My approach is "relaxed with enthusiasm" to show how exciting science can be and how it relates to everything around us!
