Experience Summary
I have teaching experience in Anatomy and Physiology (honors), Biology (honors and on-level), and Life Science (honors and on-level). I have served as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and America Reads tutor in math and science for the past two years. I have had an outstanding success rate with previously poor performing students at local schools and at after school programs in the community.
Teaching Style
Science, and in particular, Biology, has always been a passion of mine. It is my professional goal to increase the science literacy level for my community by sharing my experiences and knowledge with students at the high school level. In addition to completing the course work required to obtain a Biology Education degree, I have taught in a pilot school for a standard based curriculum in which units were presented in nine-week segments, allowing for quarterly benchmark assessment of student achievement. The design was used to support teachers in the implementation of assessments and teaching-learning activities relative to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS).
