Experience Summary
During my time in SUNY Buffalo I took a wide variety of classes which have exposed me to different fields. Specifically, I excelled in those subjects relating to math and writing. As a result of my success, I was able to tutor my peers who were taking those classes with me, as well as those who had previously done poorly and were re-taking those classes. In regards to math, I took calculus and statistics, and received A's in both those subjects. Writing was also an integral part of all my classes when I attended Michigan State University during my freshmen year. My grammar and sentence structure was perfected, and I also learned how to write about a broad range of topics, from U.S. History to Accounting Principles.
Teaching Style
I believe that there is no one standardized method to teach, rather each individual is unique in their learning abilities. Therefore, while teaching I often gauge how a student is reacting to the lesson they are being taught. Once I have determined what the best teaching strategy is for that individual, I like to write down in detail what steps were taken to reach that solution. By doing this, the student can use these steps as a guide for reassurance. Finally, I encourage the student to use repetition, thereby building confidence in knowing that they have successfully tackled the issue and can continue to do so in the future.
