Experience Summary
I became a para and went on to get my teaching degrees.Initially I received a BS in Human Services(This degree dealt with ethics, social work, counseling, and confidential issues) I felt these were issues as a teacher that would be beneficial. After working as a substitute for 2 years,I applied and was offered a Special Education position. I took the job and went to Regis University while I was working with 7th and 8th grade students. I worked at this position for three years, the year I graduated 2007 the school was faced with downsizing and I was let go. I worked the following year with 7th and 8th grade students in a different school district. I continue to move forward with learning and teaching.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching and learning from students. I feel everyone has something to share and assist with understanding different beliefs, cultures and ideas. I strive to teach to all modalities. I look at and present different ideas that might make sense. When a student understands the whys they can understand and look at the how to aspect.Teaching should be student driven allowing them to take in information and process. Then as a teacher I can reinforce and guide then to success.I believe that everyone can learn at their level of knowledge. I never give up on any student.
