Experience Summary
I earned my BA in English from Rhode Island College and took extensive coursework in Computer Information Systems. Since 2001, I have been working at Bradley Hospital in East Providence. As of April 2003, I have been working in a self-contained special education classroom for students with developmental disabilities and behavioral/emotional issues.
In 2005, I took extensive coursework in Secondary Education, but was not able to complete my teaching degree due to financial issues.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with children and have experience tutoring children of various ages and levels of ability. I know that each child learns in a different way and I'm able to adjust my teaching style accordingly.
My job duties include tutoring students in all subject areas, as well as helping to manage behaviors. I have much experience in working with students who have difficulties comprehending coursework, and often act out behaviorally during these times. I also have training in de-escalation strategies to help students learn skills to cope both educationally and emotionally.
