Experience Summary
I currently have a BA in Liberal Studies (Education) from Cal-State Northridge. During my years at this university, I took classes to work in the elementary school setting and as a result, have observed and participated in various elementary school settings from Kindergarten through the 5th grade. While I was there, I also helped tutor a special needs student who was in some of my classes who needed help with English and Linguistics. I am currently taking classes in early childhood education so that I can work with the younger children as well.
Teaching Style
I believe that all children can learn if they are motivated to do so. Therefore, I believe that the best way to teach a child is to do it in a way that will allow them to take the initiative in their own learning. I want the children to enjoy learning through discovery of the material in their own unique way (not how I want them to learn). I firmly believe in Howard Gardner's theories of multiple intelligences which states that everybody has their own way of learning whether it's visual, auditory, kinesthetic etc...
