Experience Summary
I possess a Bachelor of Arts degree and have been employed as a private tutor and as a substitute teacher. I am able to work with a wide variety of students. I have been employed with the Travis, Fairfield-Suisun, and Vacaville Unified School Districts. I have assisted students who were experiencing difficulty at the elementary school level with reading comprehension, decoding and phonetic skills. I have privately tutored students who were considered "at risk" students and helped them elevate their reading and math scores. I have also privately tutored high school students who were experiencing difficulty with reading comprehension and writing as they prepared to take the California High School Entrance Exam.
Teaching Style
As a goal oriented educator, I demonstrate to my students my enthusiasm for the subject matter. I am a commanding, authoritative presence, but never dictatorial. I use lots of energy and display a good sense of humor. I am respectful and never employ the use of negativity or sarcasm. I have been complimented many times by parents, teachers, and administrators on my method of establishing a rapport with my students. I maintain high expectations and aspirations for each of my students. I expect them to be engaged and active participants in the learning process.
