Experience Summary
As an editor for both a financial news publisher and a corporate communications consulting firm, my English grammar and comprehension skills had to be perfect in order to successfully convey accurate information suitable for formal publication to educated readers around the world. I have also worked in social services, both as a case manager for at-risk youth and as a case auditor, again ensuring the accuracy of language in case, contract, and project reporting. In preparation for these roles, I obtained a BA in English and worked as a peer and private tutor while working toward my degree.
Teaching Style
I believe that every student has potential awaiting discovery, and that reaching that potential is largely a matter of recognizing individual learning styles and providing appropriately matched environments. I am patient, encouraging, and motivational. I believe in the constructivist paradigm of learning, motivating the student to become actively involved in their own process, emphasizing the process, and acting as a facilitator who prompts, mediates, and encourages the student to speculate, discover, and identify their own milestones and manners in learning, creating a fluid, dynamic foundation for future education, not one set of information to be discarded when done.
