Experience Summary
My experience working with children and adults with Communication Disorders/Cognitive Deficits has provided me with an understanding and experience to assist others in many areas. I have an MS in Communication Disorders. This includes learning disabilities that involve language comprehension and expression, and problem solving deficits. I have also worked extensively with children and adults who have vocabulary deficits as a result of learning/language disabilities. My background and training has also equipped me to assist individuals who are not native English speakers in the areas of reading, writing, vocabulary, and accent reduction.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with children and adults. My teaching style is tailored to the individual, as individuals learn differently and at various paces. I am very patient, and flexible. I believe that structure is necessary, without sacrificing creativity. I am a firm believer that when working with children, communication with the parent(s) is necessary. Parental input/involvement is always encouraged. I believe it also key to work closely with or in conjunction with the school system and other educators involved with the child.
