Experience Summary
My degree is in Financial Accounting. My teaching experience includes substitute teaching for high school level students in Computer Accounting, Business Math, Business English and Business Law. I taught all business classes in a position where the permanent teacher took a leave of absence for six months. I also volunteered at a senior center and taught computer classes. I have tutored college students in College Algebra and a student to take the CPA exam. At the present time I have piano students from the ages of seven to sixty-five. My eldest student is a retired principal.
Teaching Style
When a student needs tutoring, there is a breakdown in the understanding of the subject. As a teacher, I find out the individual student’s thinking process and make it click for that particular subject. Quite often it is just a small portion of the process that is missing or the process does not make sense to the student. Breaking down the process step by step and using examples makes it easier for the student to get to the correct end results and understand how he or she got there. Understanding is the key.
