Experience Summary
I began working in the field of education nearly 4 years ago. I began to substitute and found that I enjoyed working with high school aged students. I was always great in math so that became my subject of choice. I worked hard to develop lessons that would be both challenging and interesting for the students. After my first year as a long-term Algebra I substitute teacher I knew that I had found my life’s calling. I had a passion for teaching and my career as an educator was truly beginning to evolve. I changed my major in graduate school to Math Education. I spent my summers working with youth at various academic summer programs and performing private tutoring to over a dozen children over the course of 4 years.
Teaching Style
My style of teaching is centered around three basic concepts. Building relationships with students, making the information something they can relate to, and finally providing them with lessons that challenge them while simultaneously making the lesson something they can comprehend. My teaching style gives each one of these elements equal weight. Everything I do to ensure a student’s academic success is somehow related to the relationship, relevance of the instruction, or rigor.
