Experience Summary
My forte is in volunteer work, teaching and literacy; traits I’ve acquired both in and out of the University. With more than 3 years of experience as an assistant to the Dean of Graduate Psychology at the University of Saint Thomas, as well as my experience working for a Coldwell Banker/Burnet realtor, and my Bachelor of Arts degree in English, History and Latin, I feel that I would be an excellent candidate. As an upcoming college graduate who has explicated my passion for volunteer work, I am dedicated to pursue a career in this particular field. I possess strong leadership skills, academic excellence, problem-solving ability, and top-notch written and verbal skills.
Teaching Style
My involvement in a Tutor/Mentor program at an international high school was an experience that was invaluable. What I learned is that education becomes a form of symbiosis. While I taught students how to peer review drafts, articulate ideas, pronounce words, read books; they actually taught me little bit about my own customs, values and beliefs, being an ‘American’ student. It is through teaching others that I learned how I taught myself. As a result of this epiphany, I am propelled to make a career out of a similar role, the role I had as a tutor, mentor, role model, and friend.
