Experience Summary
I received a Bachelor's degree from West Chester University in 2004, then continued my education at Delaware Valley College where I completed a teaching certification program. Along with continuing my education, I have been teaching for the past 5 years. I began teaching Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten for 3 years. For the past two years, I taught at a school in West Philadelphia called the Laboratory Charter School where I taught Microsoft Office applications and computer skills to students in kindergarten through 7th grade. This school year I teach Social Studies and Computers to grades 5-7, reading and math skills and a 6th grade literature class.
Teaching Style
I believe that all children learn differently, so an effective teacher must adapt the message to reach all students In a class. In my classroom I teach using lessons that incorporate VATK (visual, auditory, tactile-kinesthetic)methods to teach the way my diverse students learn. For reading and mathematics test preparation, the methods used at my school have 100% of our students scoring proficient or above grade level on PSSA tests. Lessons should be organized, interesting, and should include a clear goal, and plan for achieving the goal. I also believe that students can achieve more when parents and teachers communicate regularly and when informed learned is reinforced at home on a regular basis.
