Experience Summary
Throughout my work careers, I have been successful at teaching, mentoring, and training employees and managers. Most recently, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant for two years teaching college level writing courses in composition and the study of literature. In these classes, I planned lessons, delivered lectures, and completed all grading. My graduate school experience included writing English research papers as part of my Master's degree work. Currently, I volunteer as a tutor and teach GED English classes to adult students of diverse ethnicities at the Wellstone Center in St. Paul.
Teaching Style
My teaching style embraces compassion, candor, and accountability. I create structured yet flexible learning environments that foster spontaneity, open communication, trust, and spiritedness between instructor and student. I value personal connections with students as a way to engage learning curiosities. Expectations are clearly defined and progress closely monitored. Finally, not only do I strive for success in writing and reading specific objectives but my passion for teaching manifests itself in a desire to see students grow in heightened self-awareness, beyond the academic setting.
