Experience Summary
My passion is my teaching. I have used my BS in Chemistry to work in the technical, sales and EH & S fields in industry. I have spent the last fifteen years training engineers and technicians in the industrial world. After my children graduated from college in the summer of 2008, I went back to school and earned my teaching credential in Secondary Education-Science. My enthusiasm for teaching applied science and mathematics to young students has given me high marks in my Graduate program. While going to school at night, I have been substitute teaching during the days. I have been a registered tutor out of the Ventura Unified School District for Algebra, Geometry, Chemistry and Physics.
Teaching Style
I love to share my "hands-on" experiences of the physical world with the students I teach. No matter their age, students can be captivated by the physical world around them. Science doesn't have to be boring. Mathematics is the "language" of science. I taught my own children an appreciation for learning mathematical tools as a means of understanding the physical sciences. My daughter presently hold a doctorate in Mathematics from Dartmouth. My students learn to use calculus, trigonometry, algebra and geometry as tools in their daily experiences. The real world use of mathematics and science is the emphasis of my lesson plans.
