Experience Summary
My background experience includes classroom teaching, tutoring, substitute teaching,ESL,Title I,and GED training. My classroom experiences included Pre-K to College students. It also included training nursing staff. In Pennsylvania, I hold undergrad degrees which focus mainly on math, chemistry and language arts. My master's degree was taken in Virginia and it is in psychology. I write and illustrate on a freelance basis. I do occasionally tutor music students at the 500 level. I hold music and nursing degrees taken in NY and France. I am interested in stepping back into a more academic environment.
Teaching Style
I tend to employ a quiet but direct approach to learning. Q and A sessions begin each session. We review the homework and past experiences of the student. I encourage students to write down their concerns and mark the areas of confusion at the time these arise. That way the students don't forget to bring them to my attention. I like to break down large projects into smaller components. The success of the student is the primary goal. A feeling of accomplishment is a close second. I back step and reteach as necessary. Praise is given often. I enjoy the teaching experience and interaction with each student.
