Experience Summary
In May of 2009, I graduate from Kent State University with a BA in English and The Writing Minor certification. As a college student, I took many courses highlighting grammar structure and the writing styles of APA and MLA. As a student, I held part time jobs as a nanny for three children and a high school athletic coach for Gilmour Academy. In these positions I was able to learn the most efficient ways to work with elementary level children and teenagers preparing for college. My role as a nanny allowed me time to help with after school activities and homework assignments, as well as teaching the youngest to read and spell.
Teaching Style
I believe that every child has the ability to be academically great given the right amount of individual time and guidance. An individual's potential has no limits and is always attainable if hard work is present. I believe in firm, but positive reinforcement as children learn the skills they need to prosper in school. One of the greatest feelings I have ever experienced is knowing that I have helped changed a child's life as she found her school work becoming easier and more enjoyable. I love having the ability to teach and mentor and create a turning point in the lives of children.
