Experience Summary
Having received an MA in French and Italian language and literature and recently submitting a PhD which focussed on Basque and Catalan nationalism, I was able to hone my language skills, and put them to use during many hours of fieldwork I conducted in France and Spain. The completion of graduate degrees has also allowed me to develop my writing, analytical and communication skills. Over the past six years, I have taught French and Italian on an individual and group basis from an elementary through to tertiary level. I have also tutored ESL on a voluntary basis.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I consider it my duty as not only to disseminate knowledge but also to inspire the students I teach and in turn engender their interest in the subject being taught. I believe that the ideal setting for successful learning to occur is in a comfortable atmosphere in which students feel they are able to contribute in a valid way. In other words by creating an inclusive learning environment, I encourage students to engage with the topic at hand, with me, and with each other in the belief that good teaching depends upon intellectual exchange.
