Experience Summary
While in high school I completed two years in a practicum that put me in a classroom working one on one with students my junior and senior years. I completed my undergraduate degree in Middle School Education with an emphasis in Language Arts. I taught four years of Language Arts and Reading at a small rural school south of St. Joseph, and now I am back in school obtaining my Master's in Reading Education. I also have extensive training in working with students with dyslexia.
Teaching Style
I have always loved teaching and working with students. My mother is a teacher of almost 30 years, so I have the importance of education ingrained in me. I do believe that every student can learn, some are just a little harder to reach than others. I am trained in a variety of teaching techniques and pride myself on being able to work through the strategies with students to find one that will work. I do believe that there must be a mutual level of respect between teacher and student and so I do work hard to learn about my students' backgrounds and interests to help with my lessons. I am very easy to talk to and get along with as well.
