Experience Summary
I began my educational career at Duquesne University where I received my BA in Mathematics. After deciding teaching was my passion, I applied to the Master of Art in Teaching program at Kent State University. During the year program I was exposed to many great opportunities, one of which was teaching a college level Algebra course. This course was a combination of Algebra 1 and 2 concepts. I was also a mentor at an after school program for middle school aged children where I tutored the students in whatever subjects needed. After graduating I got a job at Wilkingsburg School District in the Alternative Education program teaching at risk youth. I currently teach Algebra, Geometry, and Integrated Math to high school aged children.
Teaching Style
During my current job I have learned that each student has the potential to be successful. The means by which he or she achieves success, however, can be very different. My objective is for students to realize their full potential. Students need to believe in what they are learning and make it their own. By allowing student choice, they are more involved and more likely to remember what they are learning. I have come to realize that education is vital for the success of young people and I take great pride in being a teacher.
