Experience Summary
After earning a BA in Creative Writing and a BA in English at Oberlin Colege, I taught for a year as a substitute within the Cleveland Municipal School District. After that, I worked for two years as a tutor with the Tutoring Club in Westlake. I primarily assisted high school students with SAT and ACT prep courses. My specialties were writing and English. I've also worked with helping middle school and high school students develop effective study skills and coming up with a good strategies for tackling homework.
Teaching Style
To me, the most important thing is to be a good listener. I usually like to spend the first 5 to 10 minutes with a new student just chatting about their academic life and their study habits. That gives me a good sense of where they are, what areas they will likely be strong in and what areas where they will likely need further development. It also helps the student feel more comfortable.
