Experience Summary
I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education. I received my California credentials for Learning Handicapped, Multiple Subjects, and Resource Specialist in 1987, through CSU Fresno. Prior to getting married, I worked for nine years in public schools in Utah and California. Since 1991, I have worked an additional nine years in public and private schools from elementary through high school as a Resource Specialist. My eighteen years as a Resource Specialist, in addition to my piano and church teaching experiences, has given me a love for learning and an even greater love for teaching students who exhibit unique learning styles.
Teaching Style
I enjoy the challenge of creating lessons that meet an individual student's academic needs. Asessment and monitoring of specific skills in reading decoding, reading comprehension, writing skills, written expression, math skills, and math concepts, allows me to modify my instruction to make each lesson relevant to your child's level and ability. I use personal experience, student's interests, repetition, oral responses, creative thought, and a host of other methods to practice and hone basic skills so that a student can master the basics and enjoy learning across a wide curriculum.
