Experience Summary
I have over twenty years of teaching English and French. I have taught middle school language arts to students in grades six through eight, high school students in grades nine through eleven and college English to freshmen and sophomores. I specialize in literature and composition. In French, I have taught mostly high school levels of French I through French IV although I also taught grades 2-5 for one year. In addition to teaching English and French, I have 24 college credits in Spanish and have taught Spanish to levels I and II for a couple of years.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is traditional but creative; I believe in learning the basics first. Once the basics are mastered, then the student can move on to the more creative lessons. I also like variety in my lessons because I like to keep my students interested in what I am teaching. For instance, I like to offset grammar with skits which include the grammar that they have been practicing through oral and written exercises. I include cooperative learning in my planning as well as differentiated learning. Every student is different and should be taught in a way that he/she can best learn the subject.
