Experience Summary
I have taught and served as a principal at parochial schools for 15 years, teaching every subject in every level in grades 4-8, and English in grades 9-12. In addition, I have served as an adult educator for 6 years. My particular areas of interest are in technology, language and reading, history, and logical thinking/essential skills. Much of my life I have provided tutoring services to students in my schools, helping them to achieve their highest potential. I have had documented success in helping students to improve their levels of academic success and self-image as active and independent learners.
Teaching Style
My teaching style spans two decades, and many hundreds of students. In that time, I have learned that individual students have individual learning styles. Therefore, my teaching style would be dependent upon the student and his or her needs and current state of mind. When possible, I favor a mastery method of teaching, attempting to focus on the essential elements of learning, and then building knowledge. Other situations may require a different approach. But regardless of the approach, the tutoring will be a success only through scheduled and careful collaboration with the student and parent, and I will work to build and maintain that communication.
