Experience Summary
My experience and strengths in teaching are in language (English and Spanish) and writing. I have taught all of these areas on the high school and college levels. My bachelor’s degree is in Spanish and English my master’s degree is in Latin American Studies. While I do not have a degree per se in ESOL/ELA (English As A Second Language), I am able to teach that area and have done so privately with Spanish-speaking immigrants who learned English from me. I have edited and published a book on the craft of writing, and have been published in national and regional magazines and newspapers.
Teaching Style
When I teach, I like to encourage conversation with the student throughout the teaching/studying time. By conversation, I mean that I want the student to be engaged with the subject and with me. I create an environment so the student feels comfortable with me and is willing to ask questions about the topic. I love writing and the Spanish language and I try to convey that to my students.
