Experience Summary
I have always loved learning and have earned several degrees in Psychology (BA), Art (AA), Spanish (Minor) and Psychometry (Tests and Measurement) (EdS) and continue to educate myself (School Psychology, PhD candidate), all of which have centered around learning and instruction. In addition, having worked in the schools for over 6 years has allowed me to learn the process by which many teachers instruct and I have developed a repertoire of helpful strategies and interventions that are based in scientific research. As part of my job in the public schools I have an extensive knowledge of tests and evaluations as well as experience working with students with unique learning styles.
Teaching Style
I have children of my own and have always enjoyed experiencing learning through their eyes and observing the different ways in which they learn. I am comfortable working with all age ranges and can accommodate special needs that a student might have. I relate well with most children and view them as a whole child with many strengths and weaknesses. Each is unique and may require multiple modes of instruction. I understand the learning process and what research shows about good learning and I want to see each student succeed—whatever that might mean for each particular student. I believe learning should be fun and enjoyable, regardless of the subject and that these work habits benefit them later in life.
