Experience Summary
I am an award-winning educator, with 10+ years' experience teaching community college level English (095, 098, 101, 102) and Strategies for Academic Success. I also have 5 years' experience tutoring in study skills and all aspects of writing, including researched writing. I am excellent at teaching and love it, especially working one-on-one with students. I am a strong test-taker and enjoy coming up with effective test-taking strategies tailored to the individual student. I have also worked with non-profit organizations as a Mentoring Program developer and editor of an online journal.
Teaching Style
As a tutor, I am professional and pleasant, well-organized and prepared. I explain concepts clearly and thoroughly. In tutoring sessions, with individuals or groups, I am empathetic and listen well. Early on, I will assess my student's strengths and areas for improvement--as well as interests and learning style. This helps me be even more effective in helping students progress. I am a patient and articulate tutor/teacher. I have truly enjoyed the many years I have helped my students.
