Experience Summary
I have more than two years of experience tutoring students in high school and college level math, including more than a year as a tutor at American River College in Sacramento. During this time, I assisted hundreds of students in math courses ranging from basic arithmetic to calculus, as well as probability and statistics. I have earned a BA in mathematics, with emphasis in applied mathematics and statistics, as well as an AS in computer programming. My educational background allows to bring a thorough understanding of the subjects I tutor to each tutorial session. There is rarely a question a student may ask me which I cannot answer.
Teaching Style
I recognize that students have different learning styles. As such, I am very careful to explain ideas in a way that best fits with the student's preferred learning style. And I only proceed to new material once I know the student is comfortable with the current material. This requires patience as well as the ability to convey math topics from multiple perspectives. It's also very important to receive constant feedback from the student by allowing them to discuss their concerns and explain math material as they understand it. I rarely do all of the talking in a one-on-one tutoring session.
