Experience Summary
I have a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies where my areas of emphasis were Spanish, History and Family Studies. I do not have a lot of teaching/tutoring experience, but I am looking forward to expanding that type of work. My experience in this area has been in three major areas—helping out in Sunday School, teaching my father how to use the computer—which is a continuing process, and at a local high school where I worked as a para-educator. I also tutored fellow classmates during the time I was at college. As far as specific subjects I have tutored, I have tutored in Algebra, Spanish, Geometry and basic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
Teaching Style
I enjoy helping people in any way that I can. I would like to help your child be able to understand what he or she does not have a good grasp on as well as hopefully teach them how to be academically successful. While teaching my father how to use the computer, I learned patience. While employed at the high school, I learned that not only does every child learn at a different rate, but what works for one, does not work for everyone. This knowledge gave me the ability to be creative in figuring out how to best help each student, whether it was reading something aloud to give the student a better understanding of the subject or using an example that the student would understand rather than those in the book.
