Experience Summary
I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington with a BS in Chemistry. I also have a strong background in math and biology. Aside from my educational background, I have experience as an educator: from June 2007 to February 2008 I worked for a private language school in Prague, Czech Republic as an English language teacher.
Teaching Style
I try to avoid giving students an answer immediately, but rather try to pry the answer out of them with questions so that they can figure out the answer themselves. I see teaching as helping/forcing the student to think things out and make discoveries for themselves, not just being spoon-fed information. Of course, sometimes it is necessary to tell students the answer if all else fails (after all, it is important that learning is not a frustrating activity for the student), and rote memorization can be a valuable tool every now and then. Above all else, I would describe my style as being patient and trying to allow the student to have fun and be interested in the topic under study.
