Experience Summary
I'm currently a Substitute Teacher. I possess a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Rhode Island and my teaching license for Elementary K-6 is pending receipt.
I have met the qualifying score on the following Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure® (MTEL) tests - Foundations of Reading, General Curriculum and Communications and Literacy Reading and Writing Subtests. My strengths are in Language Arts and Reading Assessment and Instruction. I also scored very high in the areas of Development of Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, Science and Technology/Engineering, and Child Development. I possess skills in Idea Relationships, Critical Reasoning, Mechanics and Grammar and Usage of the English Language.
Teaching Style
I have three school aged children of my own and I enjoy working with children to help them reach their full potential through a variety of teaching techniques, since each child learns differently. I am very personable, friendly and I have a great sense of humor.
I am also very patient and able to switch gears when a teaching method or approach is not working for a particular child. Getting to know a child is crucial to the learning process, so I listen very carefully to children and make assessments about where they are academically, as well as making observations about their temperament, attention span and personality in my teaching approach. In this way, I am able to I am able to make them feel comfortable and open to learning.
